How to drink for free this weekend in Long Island City

Second Annual Queens Beer Festival

Over 20 Long Island City and Queens based local brewers will be gathering this weekend at the Second Annual Queens Beer Festival this Saturday and Sunday at 5-25 46th Avenue, LIC, NY 11101. (The same lot where the LIC Flea is held).

The Long Island City event tickets start at $29 which will get you 2-hour of beer tasting time.  Tickets are also being sold for longer tasting windows and VIP options are available.  The highest tiered ticket is priced at $126 and includes an impressive 5 & ½ hours of unlimited beer tasting along with food discounts and a limited-edition tote bag.

Drink For Free:

For those of us who enjoy the idea of unlimited beer but don’t have unlimited funds, the Festival operators are giving General Admission tickets to anyone who volunteers to work the Long Island City event.

If you’re not yet sure about volunteering you can see the list of duties that you may be asked to perform here.

The Long Island City organization details the volunteer duties as follows:

  • Help setup the festival on Saturday and Sunday morning: hanging signage, setup tasting glasses, assist vendors loading in, setup activity stations and more.
  • Be social! Run activities, branding stations, beer pouring and other interactive booths.
  • Get organized! Assist operations at the main gate checking IDs and tickets, handing out tasting glasses.
  • Be hands on! Help our restaurants and breweries give out samples, sell merchandise and more.

If you would like to skip the volunteer hours and buy your ticket at full price, you can find all of the tickets for sale here.
